Two new fire fighters are recently graduates of Fire Fighter's boot camp. This is a two week course which offers intensive training in the basics of fire fighting.
This course has become a great success not only in the county but it has also drawn attention from counties around the state who are using it as a template to start a course of their own.
The names of our graduates are Rafeal Galindo and Sylvia Kovach. Chief DeLanoy back right, Past Chief and current President of the Board of Directors Robert Locker in the center and Assistant Chief Mark DeMaria is on the left.
On October 5, 2006 Prospect Terrace Fire Co. was one of four Broome Country fire companies presented with a Welch-Alyn defibrillator from the Broome County Firefighter’s Recognition Committee. Mary Jeanne Perlmutter, president of PTFD, accepted the defibrillator at the Old Country Buffet in the Town Square Mall, Vestal, from Kevin McGurgan, Regional President Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Upstate New York Southern Tier Region, and Marie Heger, Old Country Buffet Community Representative. Prospect Terrace Fire Co. also received a defibrillator training unit to be shared among the county’s fire departments.
