The Holy Name Society is the OLA men's organization characterized by fellowship) spiritual growth, and service to the parish and community.  Restarted in 1992, after having been dormant for some years, the Holy Name Society has grown from about a dozen members to over forty. As the membership has grown, the activities which the Holy Name Society sponsors has also grown, with the new members injecting new ideas and added support for our projects.

Spiritually, the Holy Name Society members attend Mass as a group once a month (usually on the first Sunday of the month). The members also support the Adoration Chapel by either committing to a specified time each week or by serving as substitutes for those who are unable to keep their scheduled adoration time.  Each spring we sponsor a pilgrimage to St. Joseph's In-The-Hills Retreat House at Malvern, Pa. where we join some 250 other Catholic men from Philadelphia and surrounding cities to make a weekend retreat. Our retreatants have grown from 10 men in 1992 to over 35 in recent years.

Our monthly meetings are normally held after the 8:00 AM Mass on the first Sunday of the month.  While these are primarily business meetings, the informal atmosphere with coffee and doughnuts enhances a strong spirit of fellowship among the members.

The construction of the Parish sign and decorative walls at the entrance to our church property was the first major service project of the Holy Name Society. Their enduring quality is a continuing source of pride to our members.  It has been followed by a sustained series of projects such as Health Fairs, Blood Drives for the Red Cross, Parish Communion Breakfasts (in conjunction with the Altar and Rosary Society) and "handyman" support for many improvements to our parish facilities.

Socially, we host an annual "Super Bowl Casino Night" each January which is not only a social event for the entire parish but one that raises the funds which we use to assist the Human Development Committee, our youth group and altar servers, and other worthy causes. We end each year of activities with a brunch for members and their wives for fellowship and reflection on the year's accomplishments.

We welcome new members to share in the camaraderie of the Holy Name Society while helping us to build a more dynamic parish. The only requirement is that you be a male member of OLA at least 18 years of age. To join, just attend one of our monthly meetings or contact the Parish office or any of our members.
