General Membership Meeting - Wednesday, February 24, 2010 - 7:15 p.m. Vestal Library, Vestal NY

DAUPHIN ISLAND, ALABAMA - Dan Watkins will present. Dauphin Island is a premier birding hotspot and migrant trap because of its location in the Gulf of Mexico. It is often the first land encountered by northward flying migrants out of South America and they often land tired and famished on the island. Dan will discuss the trip he regularly leads to the island each April and discuss how he got started doing this trip and what people can expect on Dauphin at this time of year.

Field Trip - Saturday, February 20, 2010 - Back Roads of Broome County

We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Sears parking lot, pole 6 and carpool to the back roads of Broome County looking for hawks, waterfowl and whatever else may suprise us.

Field Trip - Saturday, February 27, 2010 - Mongaup Falls Reservoir, Forestburg, NY

We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Sears parking lot, pole 6 and carpool to Mongaup Falls Reservoir area near Monticello, NY, looking for eagles. This is a long, all day trip. We will be making stops at Mongaup Falls Reservoir, Rio Reservoir, Barryville, and Lackawaxen where the Eagle Institute is located. Possible stops in Narrowsburg and Skinners Falls. The two reservoirs are controlled areas. You are not allowed out of the vehicles except at the eagle observation building at Mongaup Falls Reservoir so the eagles are not disturbed. Please dress accordingly for the weather conditions. Bring a lunch. Dining is limited with most area restaurants closed this time of the year.

Field Trip - Saturday, March 6, 2010

We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Sears parking lot, pole 6. As a group, we will determine our route. Depending on the weather, we will be getting out of the cars to do some walking.

Field Trip - Saturday, March 20, 2010 - BU Nature Preserve

Meet at the Preserve parking lot at 8:00 a.m. We will check out the Nature Preserve for any early migrants. Please dress properly for the weather conditions.
