A MESSAGE FROM THE EXALTED RULER

Brothers And Sisters In Elkdom,

I read the most wonderful story and would like to share with you!   At a Special Olympics track meet a young girl had just won the 50 yard dash and was jumping up and down excitedly.  She yelled out to her parents, "Look Mom and Dad I won!"  Her parents instantly burst into tears.  At the awards ceremony the young girl proudly stood there as a medal was placed around her neck.  She then ran over to her parents, who were crying even more than before. The three of them hugged and the parents kept crying.  A Special Olympics official who was watching this whole scene became concerned.  He went to the parents and said, "Excuse me, is anything wrong?"  Through her tears, the mother said, "No, nothing's wrong, everything is right...we just heard our daughter speak for the very first time!"

Why did I share this with you?  If for no other reason than to encourage you to see the opportunity to create "miracles".  We as a lodge have seen our share of "miracles" this past year. There was the outpouring of support for the "Wheels for Joey" event. Then there was the “Scotch Tasting” event for Chow.  I want to encourage you to keep creating the "miracles".   Like the Special Olympic champion's Mom and Dad, we may make someone cry, but it will be tears of joy.   Fraternally, Alicia Beck Exalted Ruler   2006-2007
