Brothers and Sisters!
Happy New Year! A busy December has passed, we are looking forward to the promise of 2007.
For our membership this could mean a graduation, a new
job, baby, marriage, new home, etc.
There will be changes expected and unexpected.
You will find the strength and courage to cope.
To start the
new year out right, please allow me to share this
story:
A Special Olympics coordinator tells the story of a day
that changed many lives. There were nine contestants for the
hundred-yard dash. All of them were physically or mentally challenged. All
nine lined up on the starting line. At the sound of the gun they all
"took off". One little boy didn't go very far, he stumbled
and fell. He started to cry. The other eight children heard the
cries. They slowed down, turned around and ran back to him.
They helped the little boy get up. They linked arms together and
joyfully walked to the finish line. When they crossed the finish line
everyone in the stadium stood up! The clapping, whistling and
cheering went on for a long, long time. Why did this affect
so many people? Deep down everyone knew winning for ourselves brings
fleeting joy. What really matters is helping others win, too.
As we move
into 2007,
remember you are part of the Elk Family. We believe in
picking people up, linking arms and reaching the finish line together.
God
Bless, enjoy your new year!
Fraternally, Alicia Beck,

NEWSLETTER
EDITOR TEAM NEEDED
Article
deadline: January 15th
As in all projects important to the growth of our lodge, MANY
HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!
We have a long distance volunteer to
pull the information together and format our newsletter, Bill Bayliff, PER/PDD/PSVP, who resides in Myrtle Beach. However,
he will need a local member to pickup the newsletters from the
print shop, attach labels and stamps, & deliver them to the Post Office
for mailing. He will also need
backup in case of illness or vacation.
Please contact Alicia or myself if you are
willing to help!
Thank you

TURKEY RAFFLE SUCCESS!!!!!
Thank you,
thank you, thank you
everyone for all your EXCELLENT help and contributions to make our Second
Annual Turkey Raffle a wonderful success. At last count we had
a net of approximately $900.00!!! Yeah!!
We couldn't have done it without you. Honestly,
the event was a success because so many were helping to make it so: Char
& Deb for manning the kitchen crew, (Thank you to all that
brought in the excellent food!), Joe M - Linda K - Mike & Val -
Deb & Mark - Holly & Bob as our super duper dealers --a special
thank you to Paul & Kim Reger for coming
in after a busy day at their store and being available
to step in as dealers - AND as always for Paul's behind the scenes
work having our bank ready to roll!!, Bill Maney
and Ron as our suave bartenders, Gary K as our awesome cashier and stamper - Bob Dussor - Mr.
Pizza - and stepping in where needed....and of course Steve Flint as our
outstanding MC!!
(If we missed anyone, our apologies).
We would like to extend a very special thank you to Tom
for all his behind the scenes work stocking our bar. Our bar is a success for all you do to keep it stocked
and...."ready to rumble"! We very much appreciated your
help with our silent auction selections!
We truly feel it was a fun event - a little chaotic at times - but
fun! It was a pleasure to be part of an event where soooo many were there to support and help it to be a
success!! THANK YOU!!
